Alison Popay

Senior Scientist (Biological sciences)

Hamilton, New Zealand

Hi there. I have been a scientist since 1975 with a brief period off as a Mum. My preferred area of interest is as an ecologist, but I often get classified as an entomologist because my first position was as an entomologist, researching the impacts of disease on grass grub despite not having any training in that area. Since 1989 I have worked on endophytes of grasses and their relationships with insects - really have enjoyed this. I think I found my niche science. Such a fascinating area to work in so I was very lucky!
