Quantifying benefits of deferred grazing at Aramiro

report
posted on 2024-07-30, 20:25 authored by Tracy DaleTracy Dale, Katherine TozerKatherine Tozer

Deferred grazing is a pasture management tool which can rejuvenate pastures, improve feed quality at farm scale and help to make a farm system more resilient to climate extremes. The practice is consistent with Brett Te Whare’s philosophy of looking after the whenua and whanau and of building a more secure and sustainable livestock production system to enhance the food security of the Aramiro shareholder community. Case study paddocks were selected to quantify the impact of deferred grazing on pasture composition.
