A grazing trial and associated lysimeters were set up in spring 2022 at the Dairy Trust Taranaki farm, Waimate West (39.53089S, 174.14427E) to study the effect of diverse pastures on pasture production and nitrogen (N) leaching. Dairy Trust Taranaki is responsible for data collection and sampling, while AgResearch is responsible for N leaching measurements and data analysis. This report (Milestone 2.1) covers AgResearch activities during Year 1 (January-December 2023) of the seven-year trial period.
