<p dir="ltr">Two methane measurement studies with lactating dairy cows and an analysis of two cattle methane databases were carried out for the NZ greenhouse gas inventory (NZGHGI) project. The objectives of this project were to determine CH4 emissions, using several measurement techniques, from early and mid-lactation dairy cows grazing pasture and supplemented with graded levels of concentrates and different types of concentrates. This new data was combined with relevant existing data from New Zealand and international databases on methane emissions from dairy cows fed pasture alone or plus concentrate supplements to develop CH4 prediction equations.</p>
