Pre-emptive biological control

  • A novel approach that enhances biocontrol preparedness for a potential pest invasion.
  • Candidate BCAs screened and pre-approved before pest arrival.
  • CBC could be started at a much earlier stage in the management programme
  • Collaboration (e.g. international researchers, industry representatives, etc.) plays a key role to make pre-emptive biocontrol feasible
  • Pre-emptive biocontrol may or not always be feasible
