This article summarises the results of a Rural Professionals Fund project that aimed to investigate whether growing bananas on Northland dairy farms has the potential to increase the economic and environmental sustainability of the dairy enterprise by measuring plant growth, uptake of nutrients from effluent, and the nutritional content of banana stems as forage for cattle.
