Forestry Catchment Planner: User Guide
The User Guide provides a comprehensive overview of the Forestry Catchment Planner app's interface and key features. It helps users understand how to effectively navigate and utilise the application by explaining essential tools and functionalities. it has been designed using interactive content to be quick and easy to digest for a wide range of audiences. Key features of the user guide include:
- Time-Slider: Visualise and animate forest harvesting changes over time.
- Share Tool: Quickly share your map view and selections with others.
- 2D/3D Mode Toggle: Switch between 2D and 3D map views.
- Feature Selection: Click on map features to view detailed information.
- Layer Management: Toggle map layers on/off and adjust their opacity.
- Map Rotation: Rotate the map for better orientation.
- Zoom Controls: Zoom in and out using the mouse or trackpad.
- Measurement Tools: Measure areas, distances, and elevation profiles on the map.
The user guide can also be accessed via a landing site designed for first-time users of the Forestry Catchment Planner app, providing a clear and concise introduction to the project. It explains the core challenges addressed by the project, and outlines its high-level objectives and key questions, including visualising forestry harvesting cycles and assessing associated vulnerabilities of the land. It provides background on the science behind data analysis and forest classification, as well as the software engineering efforts in developing the app's visualizations.
