I found this paper intriguing as it identifies a novel output mechanism for target-of-rapamycin (TOR), a conserved eukaryotic growth-promoting kinase. The results presented suggest that in addition to its ability to up-regulate the cell’s capacity for protein synthesis, TOR can promote the expression of specific proteins though re-initiation of translation.
