Foods can have psychological and cognitive benefits via the gut brain axis.

We are developing an in vitro model of the gut brain axis:

  • Stage 1: Intestinal model
  • Stage 2: Blood brain barrier model
  • Stage 3: Neuronal model

This model can be used to:

  • Screen ingredients to inform human studies
  • Understand the mechanisms of action by which food ingredients benefit cognition
