He Waka Hourua: Mātauranga and western science navigate a safe course for future biocontrol

<p>In this project, Mātauranga will be defined to establish its equivalence with Western science to support applications for the potential introduction of biocontrol agents into Aotearoa New Zealand.</p><p><b>Why?</b></p><ul><li>Build a deeper understanding of the EPA mātauranga framework</li><li>Recognition and implementation of Te Tiriti obligations to support an informed and integrated approach to EPA biocontrol applications.</li><li>Integration of Waka hourua model into biocontrol applications</li></ul><p><b>How?</b></p><ul><li>Support the Mātauranga Māori framework developed by EPA</li><li>Develop an understanding of the EPA application processes</li><li>Work with Maori roopū experienced in these processes and who use these applications</li><li>Working together- we identify challenges and barriers to introducing Biological Control Agents (BCA)</li><li>Develop protocols for working together (Waka Hourua) and integrating the two knowledge systems</li></ul><p><br></p>
