Beverages are a major part of the food industry and are composed of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, but excluding still and sparkling waters. Alcoholic drinks include beer, wines and spirits while non-alcoholic (soft) drinks include tea, coffee, fruit juices and carbonated and non-carbonated beverages. Water forms the basis for all beverages which contain other compounds including CO2, flavours, sugars and, in the case of alcoholic drinks, ethanol.
